I'm just surprised there's anyone else on YouTube who even knows who Dan W. Quinn IS! Maybe you should change your user name to ilove1894 :)

Wow, very FEW in youtube know how to handle a phonograph cylinder. Gotta give you some points just because of that! :)

I had this one too, in a lot of 55 Columbia brown waxes, must have been pretty popular, about 30 of the cylinders were Dan W Quinn. Columbia used an oil of coconut instead of ceresine in the formula.

Unfortunately, you can't reproduce that piano-sound on modern pianos. Such a pity.
-
And judging from the number of thumbs up my comment received, there are at least seven other people who know who Dan W. Quinn is, which I find even more impressive! Perhaps these artists are not as hopelessly buried in the depths of obscurity as I thought.

Very nice phonograph. If you do not take the crank off before starting the motor will it turn backwards then fall off on this model? I really like that sound of the piano used in this record.
Thanks

exalent i just love it mate especially music by Dan w Quinn .
Thanks for posting this, its wonderful, there need to be more stuff about music from before 1950. Although a lot of the songs would be called racist today, being about "coons" "japs" and "chinamen"

Thanks for your comment. I generally try to avoid posting any poilitical incorrect songs. I would not say that this is an example of racism (jappy-jap-jappy filled in the gappy-gap-gappy .... in the west of the mappy-map-mappy...). The song is from the Operetta "The Geisha" by Sidney Jones, there is also a newly made recording of it available on CD, issued in 1999 by the Hyperion label.
