Bonds lied to me! No matter how much I do the twist, I still keep growing old!

I must have replayed this song in the past couple days about 30 times. It was hot when I was around 12 yrs old and all we did in those days was to go to the playground. When time came for records to be played, we all danced and this was one of those songs. It was soo much fun being poor as hell and no one knew it.

212729h:i agree with you.i like to see many teenagers and others break away from today's junk pop music and listen to stuff like this.this kind do have dancing power and lyrics they can enjoy.today's pop is nothing but noise and questionable lyrics.this old stuff is a winner in my book.

I remember I was still in grade school - either 6th or 7th grade when Gary U.S. Bonds was popular. I remember my younger brother and I trying to teach our mother how to twist. It is a memory burned in the brains of all three of us. Mom even remembers. We were in the dining room and moved the table back to give us more room. She would only have been about 32 at the time, but she just did not have the required coordination I guess. Any way, it is a sweet moment in time to remember.

Wow, me too! 12 and doing the twist.

About a year ago I was a DJ at a teen dance for 14-16 year olds. It was going nowhere and I just threw this song on to see what would happen and the place went nuts .The kids couldn't get enough of GUSB.I had to get my computer out and find all the rest of his songs !!!! Who says kids to-day don't know good dance music when they hear it ? Play it for them and they'll love it.
