Well, the way I see it, you could work up the strengthen your mind the same way to you do your physical strength. I mean Brain Davis, the guy who Sylar killed to get telekinesis, could only move a cup across a table. And with Sylar being unable to not contain flint, both of hands were occupied and he was concerned with slicing open Jesse's head to get his power.

Sylar's original ability is Intuitive aptitude, for those who dont know its the ability to know how things work without any special eduction. This ability alone helped strenghthen his telekinesis by rapidly analyzing and asserting control of it as opposed to working out his mind, this is exemplified when he gains Dale Smither's ability (Unexpected). The fact that Sylar relies on his hands for telekinesis strengthens my argument that telekinesis is not that strong in the heroes universe.

Sylar's original ability allows him to have more control over the ability than the previous owner. As shown in the episode Landslide, after Sylar stole Ted's ability, Induced radioactivity, he had complete control over it. While it took Ted a very long time in order to gain the control that Sylar managed to accomplish in a matter of minutes.

Your mistaken, Sylar himself explains his origional ability in the episode 'Once Upon a Time in Texas' which is in fact intuitive aptitude. Through understanding how something works one can understand its weaknesses, strengths and the means to contain it much like he did with Ted's ability and Dale's sensative hearing. What takes them days takes Sylar only minutes or even seconds because of the simple fact that he knows how it works unlike the others who dont know what their dealing with .

hitman- Peter is weaker with powers because he doesn't understand them as well as Sylar and Sylar flipped that truck with only two fingers and managed to kill everyone in it but mr. nuke. If Sylar put his full power into it he could be able to drop plains out of the sky and maybe even lift large boats out of the water.

@mgalekgolo- The fact that Sylar used 2 fingers to flip the truck doesnt imply he used minimal power, the use of hand movements is only to direct his powers.

As for dropping planes and lifiting large boats, i find that hard to beleive considering he couldnt subdue Flint while holding down Knox and Jesse in the bank (Ep: One of us, One of them). If he has troubles holding down 3 people how can he lift something more than triple their weight?

Sylar is one of my favorite Villians. I just start watching Heroes. But one thing I hate what they did was Take Petter Powers away and make him only be able to hold one at a time. If they Kept Sylar bad and Petter with the same power he started with that would have been an amazign battle to finish it off. But they finish it off with the girl Jumping off the ride. That was terrible. Even worse ending then Lost!!
