I think instead of criticizing Wendy for what is a very common myth regarding the nature of rosewood, why not give her credit for sharing a lot of good information which is somewhat limited on YouTube at least when it comes to this topic. I am sure many beginners will find this information very useful towards purchasing their first set.

Good chess sets should be measured by the Knights, not the Kings. The knights need to be hand carved, but a machine can make the others.

This was priceless. While I agree that Staunton sets made of rosewood/boxwood and ebony/holly are usually the high end pieces, I was greatly amused by her explanation of "rosewood".
That she said it came from "older rose bushes" was an instant classic.
