Wally World System w/ Kicker Comp 10's in 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

This is my newly installed audio system in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab. The system:

2 Sony Xplod XS-R1644 6.5" 270 W (50 RMS) 4-way Speakers
2 Sony Xpold XS-R6944 6" x9" 300 W (50 RMS) 4-Way Speakers
Pioneer GM-5500T 820 W Amp
2 Kicker Comp 10" Subwoofers 8 ohms 300 W (150 RMS)

Subs are wiried in parallel and bridged to the amp at 400 W @ 4 ohms

@rednecksandchevys You have it backwards. When you wire subs in parallel, you cut the ohmz in half. My Comps are 8 ohmz each, which means I am running them at 4 ohmz. The amp is stable at 4 ohmz bridged.

how did you wire the subs to the amp

@rednecksandchevys In parallel. Wired Speaker 1 to Speaker 2, positive to positive and negative to negative, then wired Speaker 1 to the amp and bridged the amp.

Ok, I didn't know how strong they were so my only fear was if the grille were to break, it might puncture the sub. Thanks for the info!

@BowHuntinFreak11 No problem, hope I could help. The grill sits a few inches above the subs, with the exception of where they screw into the box. The holes line up exactly and the grill rests on the speakers on the outside edge. Good luck with your set up. I have enjoyed mine!

I currently have the same setup, 2 10" Kickers, waiting to be installed in my 07 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT but i couldn't decide whether to buy the grilles or lift the seat. I wasn't sure how well the grilles would hold up if put under pressure. What are the grilles made of?

@BowHuntinFreak11 They are made of cast aluminum and are very strong. My understanding is that if you do lift your seat, you have too be careful, as even an inch of lift can cuase the rear seat to be unsafe and not sit properly in the brackets that they are on.

i know that that amp isnt 2ohm stabele at bridge so you wired them in parrlel wich i think make it a 8ohm load and im not sure if that amp could handel that.

@BowHuntinFreak11 BTW, I have seen other videos where people have lifted their seats. I was going to, but found it unecessary. But if you do not want a permanent grill imprint on the underside of the back seat, you may want to consider that. When people sit on it, the seat does not press down on the grills or the box.

@BowHuntinFreak11 Typically, I lift the rear seat, when I am not hauling anyone or anything in the back seat. However, when I do have people in the back seat, the grills push up against the fabric on the underside of the seats. There is nothing there to push down on the grills, but they have left an imprint on the fabric. I hope that makes sense.
