The first part of this three-part tutorial shows you the first steps in creating a medieval/knights templar-style intro title.
Uses fractal noise and blending modes to create a parchment texture, then roughen edges and ellipses to create a realistic-looking wax seal / stamp.
Part 2 coming soon!

  • where did you get the font from? i dont seem to have it on my mac. is it a windows only font, or did you install it from somewhere else?

  • @holtie43 It was already installed on my PC - guess it's part of the CS5 PC version installation.

cheers, i was able to find a downloadable version on the web. im finding this tutorial very useful, i am trying to create a really nice looking title screen for the video i am making of my brothers wedding.

do you have any tips for creating growing vine effects?

  • @holtie43 Couple of tips - if you create the vines graphic in PS, keeping some of the layers separate might make the animation easier (as long as you preserve the layers by AE by importing as a composition). Also, one thing I didn't show in this video is that you can keyframe the brush size which can help keep things tidier around the fiddly bits. Best wishes to your brother, and good luck with the video!

  • Hello I have a question about the wax seal... is there any way I can make my logo look like the Letter inside the circle so it looks like my logo was stamped on it? Please help if you can

  • @shortformvideos Can i make this in photoshop cs5 and then just use the jpeg as the parchement background?

  • Can you use a logo instead of a text for the stamp? If so is it the same process?

  • @Deanboy82 It's ok I found it :)

  • What is the name of the font you use in this tutorial?

  • @mrob5050 thanks! Though technically I'm a pom who's lucky enough to live in Oz. :)
