because he gets runs there :) if you think about it it is similar to stuart broad, if johnson was to be moved up the order, then he would be expected to get runs and would feel the pressure and not perform as well whereas at 8, he has freedom to have a smack. He just never really performed when needed when we got the ashes back (H) haha
