@hank1972 you can BELIEVE anything you want to believe, but for it to make sense it has to have concrete evidence in fact or reason, otherwise its just masturbation. (aw man, i didnt want to drop that in there, but it's hilariously appropriate. if you get it, though, you are boss!)

@hank1972 yeah for a second there I thought you would've lost sight of my point but you made mention of the "500 years of oppression" so i knew this conversation wasnt in vain. but believe me, whether i was talking to a wall or not, i wouldve carried on this conversation to no end. if it takes that much to change the mind of one so be it. otherwise, they are lost causes just parroting BELIEFS.

@erik4727 I see now where you are coming from. But while the media may push its idea of beauty, the biological, and cultural aspects of beauty may differ. Actually I think a good study could be made from our little chat here.

Now if you realize this has a net negative on the positive self image development on certain human beings on the individual and the collective, you'll agree that it is morally irresponsible to carry on this long and enduring legacy of oppression. @erik4727 Perhaps the medias version of beauty is different to cultural acceptance. They did a study back in the 70's with black young girls and they gave them the choice of a white doll or a black doll, and they would choose the white one. But this may be more due to 500 years of oppression affecting one own believe in self esteem.

@erik4727 Actually you hit on something that I mentioned while I lived in Central America last yr. While watching Mexican TV I noticed that no on TV looked like a Mexican. They looked generic. I mentioned this to a local and he told me that it has been something that mentioned before. My friend from India also mentioned that this is done in India and there has been grumbling over it. Now look at current porn, some of the most popular actress are very "latin". Cont.

@hank1972 But you can't deny the overwhelming presence of light-skinned hispanics in both Latin American and "White" media (which is just a wing of white media,i suppose).It's a sad state of events really,it also affects blacks here in the US. You look at any "Top 10 most beautiful Black Women" and you'll find that what most people regard as beautiful (light skin, blue eyes, european physique) aren't natural in the "true" black race...what does this say about how we value blacks as human beings?
