Bought two of these for under $15 shipped some time back and now seeing if they'll work better for ride videos than my other cameras (which are considerably more bulky and must be mounted on the bike resulting in a lot of vibration in the videos).

Helmet is a Zox full-face. I tried two locations - one camera is duct-taped directly in the middle of the helmet at the chin-bar, and one camera is duct-taped onto the right side (this side was most logical so the power button would be accessible).

These little spy-cams lack a viewfinder so when mounting them had no idea what the lenses were pointing at; thus, not all the footage was usable. In the end, I had aimed them a bit too low and was lucky that sometimes I had tilted my head back enough to frame a little bit of sky or something interesting to post... okay, interesting to *me*... hey, nobody's making you watch this, you know... ;)

Any thoughts on which view works best - chin or side? I personally prefer the chin view best.... as long as the windshield gets a good cleaning. :)

Although these cameras are not listed as HD the video output is listed as 720 x 480p, and when I use MS Windows Live Movie Maker to edit the footage, the resulting movie plays on Youtube as a 720HD movie on my PC... does that make a difference in quality to anybody? I don't know, maybe you can tell me. I just think thought it was interesting enough to mention. :)

  • Thanx for the video!! Mine camera is enroute to me in Texas. Is your bike a V-Star? It looks very much like mine. I plan to mount the camera inside my helmet and attach a small piece of foam over the mic hole to dampen wind noise. What was all that white stuff on the ground?

  • @rtaylor137 Good eye - that is a V-Star ('05 1100 Classic, my brother has it now)... best wishes on the camera placement, I tried mine inside but it didn't fit right in my full-face (too much face I guess, lol). The white stuff on the ground is snow - was in Texas last summer and not surprised you didn't recognize it WOW does that place get hot! ;D

  • That was fun! :) Good job! Well done, you even kept our head nice and still ;)

  • @Reechforthesky Cheers, Reech! We always try to think of our viewing audience, however small it may be, and not get them nauseated for they are our preciousesssssss. ;)

  • Yeah, last year was the hottest summer I've ever spent in Texas. My 2006 V-star is a 650 and is new to me. As soon as I get the camera mounted and figured out I'll post a clip.
