Sound Percussion 5 Piece Drum Kit Tour (Sound Examples)

This is my Sound Percussion 5 piece drum kit I picked up at Guitar Center.

I would recommend this set to ANY player, specifically aimed at those just getting into drumming... great entry level kit. Was something like $340.00 for the kit, hardware (must have), and the insurance on it was $20.00 (optional). For such a cheap price the kit sounds awesome.

I've made the following additions/changes to it:

Heads:

I changed the snare head to a Remo Weatherking Ambassador.

I changed the tom heads all to Evans Genera G2 Coated.

Both are completely optional... the stock heads aren't bad at all, I still have them around, I actually really liked the sound of them (except the snare).

Accessories:

$40.00 tambourine/cow-bell combo at Guitar Center shown on the high-hat.
$20.00 Wood Block shown in there somewhere.
$? Chimes (Need a stand)

I use Remo O-Rings to cut out the buzz (works fine, probably wouldn't use live since the coated heads already give a pretty controlled sound). These were $20.00 if I remember right.

I threw a blanket in the bass drum.

i have this kit and in order to make it decent you have to change the batter heads and the resonant heads and it should sound ok. As for the snare..... throw it away and get a new one

Not entirely true. You can actually make the stock heads sound decent (especially if you're a beginner... they'll work fine for you). I still have yet to change the reso heads and they still work fine for me. The snare is also just fine for the beginner range. It doesn't show in any of my videos, but slap a new Weatherking or G2 on there and your snare will sound just fine.
