EvoRunners - Generations

EvoRunners is a program about evolving artificial life. They are simple creatures - just made out of boxes linked by motors - but through mutations and selection, you can adjust their shapes, refine their movements and train their brains, until you have an organism capable of performing complex tasks.

This video shows the program going through several generations of creatures, and in that time they evolve a rudimentary ability to walk. Obviously a lot of work needs to be done to fine tune the process, but I am still damn pleased with their progress.

Are all of the creatures in a generation tested all at the same time?

Yes. The fitness of every creature is updated every three seconds or so, and after 10 updates a new generation based on the fittest from the last one is created.
