Lyrics:

My mind is open now, I'm on the other side.
Though you remember my name.
And if you go away I'll get it off somehow.
I'll leave it all in the air. No,no.

Turn me down. Turn me down
Turn me down. Oh, how I've tried.
Really and sincerely I've tried.

There is a song, I hear it all around.
But I don't hear a sound.
If you were with me now,I'd let you know my mind.
Love is so easy to lose. No,no.

Turn me down. Turn me down.
Turn me down. Oh, how I've tried.
Really and sincerely.

Turn me down. Turn me down.
(repeat and fade)

  • i love this song very much......one of the more dramatic robin songs from the 60s.........but, i must admit, listening a little closer to the lyrics it is rather twisted.....a lot of his lyrics were left field from that time........it's ashame how the beegees would later sing straight codependency ballads.......i like the strangeness of the early material.

  • @posthumanhero - Well, you made me go look. My mind is open now, I'm on the other side. Though you remember my name. And if you go away I'll get it off somehow. I'll leave it all in the air. No,no. (Chorus) Turn me down. (Repeat X3) Oh, how I've tried. Really and sincerely I've tried. There is a song, I hear it all around. But I don't hear a sound. If you were with me now,I'd let you know my mind. Love is so easy to lose. No,no. (Chorus) Turn me down. (Repeat)
  • @posthumanhero - Just added the full lyrics the description. YT truncated what I posted here as a response.

  • A slightly slower version than I've heard before, but still unbelievably moving. Like much of their music, it is so sad. I love it to bits.

  • Thanks so much,Gibblettes. This entire '71 concert with orchestra captures the group in full power. Here's hoping the brothers create more music together and tour in '12 or '13.

Will Rhino ever continue the reissue series? Any news?

  • My God, what a beautiful song, what a voice!!!

  • @Gibblettes actually this is kind of pornographic and degnerate in the first verse.........i think the beegees have a deep sense of humour..................there's something going on in that lyric.......how else would u interpret it?

  • @posthumanhero - Interesting info. Didn't realize it had been written about that horrible accident. Robin and his first wife were on that train ... it was horrid. The Gibbs frequently wrote with vague reference to events in their lives. The key came from tying it to something definable by us fans. Funny about your assumption - I never did make that connection myself. :-)
