Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713), one of the most influential musicians and composers of the Baroque era. His published achieved so much popularity that was unmatched until Haydn. Although not the first person to establish or coin the term "concerto grosso," he was hands down the most important in establishing it as a popular music form.

  • This painting....what is it by whom?

  • @MrToklas I believe it's called "Still-life with a Violinist" by an anonymous painter, given the name of The Master of the Acquavella Still Life

  • Baroque tuning was generally lower, and that's what period groups generally do as well. Common practices are A = 415 Hz instead of 440 Hz, which is a semitone lower.

  • is this 415 Hz

  • thank you.......

  • @harpsichordRB Baroque allegro is slower then later music-periods same appreciation of that tempo. I feel here that the allegro is just right for this piece. Faster would just ruin it and make it to fast.

  • So beautiful. Makes me feel so good to listen.

  • I believe this one should be A = 390 Hz. Somewhere around there.

  • @harpsichordRB Completely disagree.

  • Slow tempo without passion.
