Wii: Blazing Angels Walkthrough Midway: Opening Moves Ace part 1 of 3
This is how I earned an Ace Rating, and an American Campaign Medal.
In this mission, Midway: Opening Moves, you will have the choice between twelve (12) planes, but there is only one (1) plane that I would recommend: The Spitfire V. In this mission you will need to shoot down fifty (50) enemy bombers and fighter planes, so you will need the plane that has the best firepower: the Beaufighter, the Hurricane II and the Spitfire V; of these three (3) choices only the Spitfire V has the best overall performance and firepower. OBJECTIVE: PROTECT MIDWAY ISLAND. SHOOT DOWN ALL OF THE ENEMY BOMBERS! You begin this mission on a runway so press the throttle all the way forward to gain maximum speed, after a few seconds pull up on the joystick to takeoff, once in the air press (2) on the Wiimote to retract your landing gear. You will see the first (1) wave of bombers approaching from the one oclock position, there will be twelve (12) bombers in two (2) (V) formations, one above the other; you want to attack this first (1) wave of enemy planes from their side flank. After you takeoff turn forty-five (45) degrees to the right and race forward until the formation of enemy planes is all the way on your left side, in the nine oclock position. Turn ninety (90) degrees to your left, command your wingmen to attack, slow down and aim for the lead planes in bottom formation first. It takes only two (2) rounds to shoot down each plane when you are flying the Spitfire V, so if you approach the formation from the same elevation and from the side you can spray the entire group with rounds and bring them all down relatively quickly. IMPORTANT: when you attack enemy bomber formations make certain that you are at the same elevation and that you are attacking from their side, this will give you the best angle to shoot down all of the planes. TIP: sometimes it can be difficult to tell which enemy bomber formation to attack after the first (1) wave because there appears to be two (2) formations approaching at the same time from opposite directions, to avoid this problem pay close attention to your radar, the second (2) wave of bombers appear on your radar only after you have shot down your fifth (5) bomber, and the third (3) wave appears on your radar only after you have shot down the twelfth (12) and last bomber; so pay attention to your radar and take note of the second (2) enemy bomber formation before you shoot down the last bomber in the first (1) wave. After you have shot down the twelfth (12) and last bomber in the first (1) wave command your wingmen back into formation and race at maximum speed toward the second (2) wave of bombers. Just like you did with the first (1) wave of bombers, you want to approach from the same elevation, but this time you will approach from your right side. Watch your radar, when the second (2) wave of fourteen (14) bombers is in the one thirty oclock position turn forty-five (45) degrees to your right, command your wingmen to attack, aim carefully for the lead plane, slow down, shoot and slowly turn left, you can shoot down the majority of the bombers on your first pass if done correctly. After the second (2) wave has been downed, command your wingmen back into formation, aim in the direction of the sun, race forward at maximum speed, be careful not to fly up too high, just in the direction of the sun. The third (3) wave of nine (9) bombers will be on your left side, when the third (3) wave is in the nine oclock position on your radar, turn ninety (90) degrees to your left, command your wingmen to attack, aim for the lead bomber, slow down, shoot and slowly pull to the right as each bomber goes down. After the last bomber is down, command your wingmen back into formation. The fourth (4) and last wave of ten (10) bombers will be close to you and close to the runway you are protecting; quickly intercept the last wave, aim for the lead plane, command your wingmen to attack when the enemy planes are in range, shoot and slowly turn to your right to eliminate the last of the bombers. After you have destroyed all of the bombers, command your wingmen back into formation, call on Joe now if you need power, a short video clip will play, your plane will be repositioned and you will be given your next objective. End of Part 1 of 3, view part 2 of 3 for further details. Good Luck
