Think about it as a social network only in this social network you can socialize your ass off and walk around and sit and fly and buy stuff and enact sex (which i think stupid but whatever tickles your pickle), you can do anything and everything you want. even get emotionally invested in another person. (which i do not recommend)

It really isn't a game to be precise.
Think about what SL stands for and the things you can do.
There aren't any point, no score, no status or leaderboards.
However within SL there are games, where you can equipt a HUD and have points and scores and all that stuff.
I'm not choosing sides, I'm correcting those who think of it as a game.
They think anything virtual where you can move and do things are games.
