Juan Zavaleta. Gallery Connexion. Opening Speech. 15-1-2011

Meredith Snider, director of Gallery Connexion, presents Juan Zavaleta to the public during the opening evening of his exhibition "The Degradation of Ourselves, a full reference to Slaughterhouse & The Souls of God (Get Back to Us). A comprehensive and none the less controversial conceptual installation exposing his theory about the 21st cenrury slavery through hundreds of pieces of paper towels and uniforms that he wore working in a mega meat procesing plant in the city of Branbdon, Manitoba from 2002 to 2005. Such pieces are soaked in blood, making all kind of designs an paterns on them. This exhibition is presented for the third time in Canada, this time at Gallery Connexion in Fredericton New Brunswick.
