I saw this fight fight when it happened and this referee... I tell ya. First off, after the 3rd knockdown(out!!!) Andries was in no shape to continue. Look at Hearns' legs after the 3rd knock down @ 5:17. Instinctively, Andries was gonna get up but also instinctively, Hearns was about to kill this boy. Boxing referees should be fined and stripped of their licenses for numb-minded officiating like this. This is why Cosell quit calling fights, e.g. the Holmes-Tex Cobb fight.

Some of the worst refereeing I've ever seen. That 6th was hard to watch. Andries is one gutsy guy, but the ref should've ended it in 6.

Damn....Where's Richard Steele when you need him? lol

Tommy is fighting the way that Chad Dawson should've fought against Jean Pascal. If he kept his length and his jab in Pascal's face the way Tommy's doing to Andries, he would've won pretty handily.

DUDE THIS REFEREE IS FUCKING TERRIBLE! HE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMEONE'S RELATIVE OR FRIEND BECAUSE HE IS NOT A REAL REFEREE! UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE. THIS IS HOW RING DEATHS OCCUR, FUCKING MORONS LIKE THIS FUCKING IDIOT!

Please tell me that referee was not allowed to ref again! Why didnt he stop it after the second or third knockdown? Pathetic refereeing.

He hasn't taken over the fight and dominated.....
Best bit of commentator's curse ever.

I thought the referee did a pretty decent job.. apart from round 6. What makes it look so much worse is the fact that Andries was such an awkward fighter, so when he was hurt he looked in even worse shape. Beautiful Hearns right hand that started it though, doesnt get much better then that :)

tommy hearns had terrific technique, the way he throws the right hand is absolute perfection, he doesnt telegraph it at all, its perfectly straight and lightning fast thrown with terrific leverage- awsome!

WOW THAT REFEREE !!!! 5 knockdowns and he is not stopping it? That guy was almost dead in the ring. And Hearns is amazing,I think he is not getting enough credit. For me he is in the top 10 best p4p of all time easily. 9 titles in 7 different weight classes...
You can't fault Andries bravery in this fight....but he was taught a boxing lesson by a master.
