thanks a lot! i'm happy for every comment about my playing...

Askenazy has to be one of the best, most unique Rachmaninoff pianists of all time!! I mean that literally...did you know he would actually RUN on and off stage for a recital!? But he is absolutely the best of the best...

RACHMANINOV HAT GESPROCHEN

Can you tell me which album this recording was taken from?

Have you guys heard the Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff of this? its simply haunting. very beautiful. Better than this although Ashkenazy plays it well. I think its because the recording quality is sandier than this clear recording, and adds to the mystic feeling.

The arthritis didn't affect him until sometime after 2000, and it has nothing to do with the quality of his recordings.

His hands suffered Arthritis.

Well, that's the $64,000 Question. Most likely is that he took on too much repertoire at once, trying to become something of a completist...then somehow he got bored and started conducting instead. And somewhere along the line his playing just lost all the early zip. Difficult to explain but very, VERY clear on the mid and later recordings.

Hi. I am a bit of a beginner in all of this, but I have always loved Ashkenazy's playing and conducting, so why did his playing worsen in the 80s? Enlighten me, I would love to know more about this. Thank you

Superbly musical.

Once I tried to find a mistake or something to point out on his playing...I couldn't find one. From there on He is my idol pianist, who I look up to and want to reach...if I can of course :-D

lol was that a bubble coming out of rachmainnoffs mouth -_0... totally destroys the seriousness of the piece lol. Vladimir ashkenazy is to new comers the most emotional and truely deepest out of most pianists. He is proof that emotions can be fed to an audience.
