man... brings back memories... one of the first games I ever owned.. can't believe the graphics were this good.. better than the earlier PS1 games

Very fitting, fighting a jaguar on an atari jaguar!
-
can you save your progress on this game at all? Like you can with Rayman?
-
this version probably had the worst soundtrack
-
@viMasterJag - Yeah, but those are arcade ports. That's a whole different thing. Raiden requires extra muscle that then-current-gen 16-bit consoles didn't have the muscle to do. They release those on Playstation so you could get an arcade perfect translation.
Pitfall Mayan Adventure is not an arcade game. And it was on every single platform of the time. If this version shined in a spectacular way, I could see wanting it. I love Jaguar, actually. And I'm collecting.

lol just read the title description on this.

I've got this for both the Jaguar and the Genesis. Since I have both systems hooked up I think I'll need to take another look at them. Personally, I think this game looks stunning on the Jaguar. That was one tough cat though. lol.
Thanks for posting all the Jaguar games. It makes it easier to decide what to get. I'm looking at getting a homebrew next.
STAY AWESOME! :)

there were only a handful of games that looked decent for the system, if not less. aliens vs predator was pretty good but they released stuff like wolfenstein which had already been done. for a system that was supposed to be looking forward, atari spent too much time looking back trying to rehash the classics. just by looking at a vs p for that time period, the jag could have been so great if things had been done a little differently.

Many games on the jaguar are side-scrollers. Video game companies didn't know how to fully utilize the Jaguars advanced capabilities, when so many consoles were still either 8,16 and 32 bits. and that's why it failed.
This is a genesis game for crying out loud. You can't pass a 16-bit side-scroller on a Jaguar and claim it's 64-bit.
Although it is more proper for something called "Pitfall" to be on an Atari system.

Ya, I mean, imagine if a "16-bit" game like Raiden was on the uber-powerful 32-bit Playstation... people would be outraged!
... oh... wait...
