This is another one to share with you nice quality clip and one to enjoy.

Thin Lizzy and Grandma

In 1982, May Booker, a 70-year-old grandmother from England, wrote producers at the BBC. The subject of her letter was her favorite band, Thin Lizzy, hard rock's biggest act at the time. "How nice it would be," she wrote, "to play with them."

Recognizing a golden opportunity, producers reached out to the band. Lead singer Phil Lynott, raised by his paternal grandmother in Crumlin, Dublin, agreed to share the stage with Booker, who "played" an Oberheim OB-X synthesizer on the band's pre-recorded performance of "Hollywood."

  • RIP Sir Jimmy another one gone so maybe you can have a beer with PhilO now!

  • HaHa yeah I guess so although some would say that honour went to a certain former member who once played with the Tygers of Pantang ;-)

  • Yeah I think we are all with you on that one - as has been said on the Rocklegend forum .thin-lizzy.info what would we give for a Tardis so we could travel through time ;-)

  • Thank you to "ThinLizzyLegend" for posting this video. That wonderful lady was my Grandma May. I still have this on a VHS tape transfered from Betamax and well used so to see it in good quality is amazing.

I still have the "Plunder", the medal and the sheet music of the solo which she she wrote herself to fit into the piece.

I say everyone on the stage that night was and will always be legends!

RIP Phil, Grandma and Jimmy... rockin that cloud in heaven!

  • @andyjbailey75 I saw the clip of your Grandma May last night. That was TV gold. Sorry to hear she's no longer with us. She reminded me of my own nans and the thought of them on national tv rocking out with Phil Lynott is just ace. Big respect to the Lizzy boys for being good sports. Thanks and RIP Grandma May.
