Democracy involves protest. "Law" under democracy presumes that all peoples are involved in the production of the law. Canadian land law is of European establishment - this means that Aboriginal Peoples had no say in how Canadian law developed. In fact, they didn't even have the vote until the mid 1960's. Does he not understand that "law" presumes democratic input on how those laws are framed? This man is far too simple a fellow, perhaps, to understand that simple imposition is not rule of law.

Wow, you are so smart. You sure set my stupid ass straight.............NOT!
Mchale represents my point of view quite nicely.

I know it does not make sense that the government has a two tier justice system.
-
That doesn't make any sense.

Mchale said in the beginning, before the first rally in Caledonia, that thousands will protest from all races! To this date they are a small group of white people who are dysfunctional!
Only special interest groups have human rights.

Alternatively, one could argue that "human rights" is a bourgeois institution anyways. The point isn't whether to confer "human rights" upon so-called "special interest groups", but rather to build a world in which all people can enjoy peaceful self-determination.
Idealism? Check.

This comment doesn't even make sense, since even within the words of the term "human rights" we can plainly see that it applies to humans, not interest groups. Majority groups simply don't need to rely on rights, since they frame and dictate the terms of reference for the cultural norms-cum-laws which are then imposed upon sub-groups. Think before you write, you will make less of an ass of yourself that way.

The comments here are demonstrating the almost-intractable nature of the conflict in this land. We are all the victims of a colonial system that the government is both unwilling and unable to reform. Haudenosaunee people are robbed of their dignity, lands, and rights to self-determination, and settlers are robbed of their humanity through generations of indoctrination, the result of which is Gary McHale. Something has to give.
