1980 Oldsmobile Omega America

Begin maart '07 kocht ik bij Mols classic cars in Soest (www.molsclassiccars.com) deze oldsmobile omega.
Ookal was het een rotte bak die van ellende uitelkaar viel en stond ie de eerste dag gelijk stil omdat de dynamo ermee kapte. Heb ik er nog 3 maanden mee gereden, en hem daarna maar verkocht omdat de benzineprijzen explosief stegen.
De Header was lek en afgedicht met gungum maar omdat het toch te heet werd lekte het steeds weer, wat ervoor zorgde dat met een koude start de auto vol uitlaatgas kwam te zitten.
Toen het na de 44 dagen lange zomer die 2007 van maart tot eind april duurde begon te regenen lekte er ook water door de 2 roestplekken boven het raam.

Maar wat was het een heerlijke wagen om in te rijden, en heb er enorm van genoten!


In March '07 i bought this oldsmobile omega for the price of E1250,-
It was in a poor condition but it drove very well.
Lived the American dream for 3 months and sold it because the gasoline prices reached sky high.
The header leaked so if you started the engine the fan blows the gasses straight into the car.
And when it started to rain the water leaked trough the 2 rust holes above the windscreen.

I really enjoyed riding around in this car, it was my dream wich became a little nightmare.
The first day i owned this car the generator failed and needs to be replaced.
The gearbox made strange electrical noise and one of the valves made a ticking noise when revving up.
Also the electrical wiring was a mess but it still worked.
It costed enough, but really didn't repay.
Sold this car before it fell apart ;)

Wow! I think it is great that the Europeans love our old American cars so much!!! Not like us.... even "our" disgusting President wanted all the old American cars destroyed with his Cash for Clunkers-- I just think he hates and doesn't want anything American and/or white and Americans were stupid enough with their "incentives" to do that! Thanks! The car is a rare beauty!

You're right,

I really don't understand why most the american people don't see anything in de old 80's sedans.

Cash for Clunkers was the biggest mistake ever made, shame on the people who selled their clunker for a tiny,soulles made, piece of plastic crap.

Old American cars are driving artworks, i love the crhome, the luxurious interiors and the nice chrome finished and detailed dashboards.

Take good care of your classics before it is too late!

I usually only see these with the gear shift in the middle on the floor. This car has it on the steering wheel as mine does. ...ROCKING! How much did you sell her for and Jesus -- WHY? Do you regret it? LOL.

Never seen that befoner, for as far as i know there are about 8 omega's in Holland, maybee more.

Why i sell her, it was a wreck.

I loved this car but believe me it was a wreck.

Now you know why this is the last GM car anyone in my family ever had. In fact, many people gave up on GM around the same time my parents did. It's sad that GM lost what made it great.

That said, I'm surprised that the Omega made it 27 years. Our 1980 Omega was my mother's when it was new, and it was my brother's later on in its life. By the time the car was 8-9 years old, it was already on its last legs, so it's hard for me to imagine an Omega lasting 27 years.

I used to drive an Omega. Someone pull right in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. The Omega did a 360. I have many cars in the past and that was the only car that ever did that.

@jakesaintsrow123 Very few.....but majority were American! There were quite a bit of European cars also.... it was just Obama trying to extinct us like Hitler did to the Jewish but because he couldn't do it to people, he did it to our cars and heritage! Disgusting human being Obama is!

@cruising4chicks If us stupid Americans hated those cars so much and had them clunked.... they should of sent those cars to Europe and giving to you guys and also the poorest nations because I know there are many poor nations in Eastern Europe and the people would be so grateful to have those "clunkers!"
