This video is a slide show trying to capture some of the passion of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center LifeFlight program. Since begining service in 1984, over 25,000 patients have been transported and VLF has been accident free.

VUMC is the 6th largest Level 1 trauma center in the country and VLF completes over 2,900 patient transports a year.

  • is this in pa?

  • Nope, it's in Nashville, TN

  • yes...for vanderbilt they like you to be a RN and u must have some sort of emergency training like EMT-EMTIV-or Paramedic along with your RN...the more u have the better u have a chance of flying... i think around here...Air Evac lets paramedics fly.. which can give medications, intubate,...anything really

  • Ah, OK. Thanks for the info!

  • TNX a lot!! are u a nurse?!

  • No problem! No I'm not a nurse. I'm actually a medical interpreter. I've gotten to go on a ride along and loved it. I liked it so much that I'm thinking about starting on my EMT-IV and working towards becoming a flight nurse.

  • to Vandy lifeflight - I owe you all my life. Thank you. From one medic to another. God bless you all. Fly safe.

  • I can't wait to be the RN who is in the trauma room at vandy when they bring these patients in. There is nothing more satisfying as being apart of a team that makes a difference. These guys saved my brother's life!
