I read a book about the early days of the Talking Heads ... according to the author, Byrne was absolutely terrified to be onstage, yet he felt very compelled to be up there. It brought an interesting tension to the early days of Talking Heads' live shows. Byrne got a lot more comfortable onstage in later years.
I think both Byrne and PJ are sort of more comfortable on stage than in everyday life. It's maybe a matter of having more control over their environment.

its from around 1998 when she was promoting 'is this desire.' i can't remember exactly what website it was from, but it was a pj harvey fansite.
