why the comma after "dishes?"
Xanith83 1 year ago
@Xanith83 -- "I washed the dishes, and my wife dried them."
It wouldn't be a tragedy to exclude the comma, but there are two clauses: I washed the dishes. My wife dried them. Each clause has a subject and a verb. You wouldn't use a comma in a sentence with one subject: I washed and dried the dishes.
