Shelter Dogs

Finished video of what I've been working on during the summer as I volunteer at the animal shelter for my senior project. I'll honestly admit, I've yet to adopt a dog from a shelter and the more time I spend volunteering, the more I really wish I COULD adopt one. So many amazing dogs are waiting in kennels for someone to take them home.

Anywho, about a few weeks ago my sister and I went with one of the shelters employees on what they call 'a run'. What that is is where we go to other animal shelters and take the dogs they no longer have room for and bring them back up to Oregon to find their forever homes. We traveled 2 and a half hours down to California to rescue 15 dogs that may have otherwise been put down. It was hard, only being able to take 15 dogs. No pit bulls either, my shelter sadly doesn't accept more than one bully breed at a time because they take so long to find a home and they don't kennel well. So, three gorgeous pit bulls were put down simply because the shelter they were in couldn't hold them, and we couldn't take them.

I know, we can't save them all. But, if you're looking for a new dog, or cat even, please visit your local shelter first. We can't save them all, but we can still save some. =)

All pictures/videos were taken by either myself or my sister. One or two at the start were taken by another volunteer at the shelter. All dogs were ones at Southern Oregon Humane Society. If you'd like to use a picture or video from this please ask me first and give credit where credit is do.

I adopted my Leia, a golden retriever who in her short 18 month life, went from being abandoned at the vet, then to a shelter and then to a rescue/foster home. So much change and uncertainty and she is super sweet. I couldn't imagine getting a dog any other way than thru adoption.

this chuihaha we got claaed charlie he was a complete wuss but his hisstory was horible he was a breeding dog used for breeidng he haded kids and liked adults and hid all the time i got anohter dog named maya (myha) and shes a sweety but loves one person only and thats me luckily she was only in there for 2 or 3 days she absulutly hates other animals she was misable in the pund love the vid good work
