A film about how it used to be. The Tale Of Mr. Jeremy Fisher. Written and Illustrated by Beatrix Potter (Published 1906). Reading by Voxinabox. Music by Kevin MacLeod.

I have no idea why I did this! (But who says you need a video camera to make videos for Youtube?)

Did they have celebrity gossip in 1906? They didn't have television or cinema. Was there radio? What, if anything, was the equivalent of the bikini-babe centre pic of a Youtube vid? They did have some pretty horrific traveling freak shows. The school leaving age was about 11, I think. Oh well, I suppose things move on. I posted this vid because it's really the opposite of what YouTube is all about. Or is it? YouTube is about... everything. There's room for everything and anything. (Within Terms of Service of course.) I'm not against skate-boarding dog vids.

Other things that happened in 1906:-

Theodore Roosevelt became the first American President to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

An automobile company called 'Rolls Royce Ltd' was registered.

SOS became an international distress signal.

The first submarine was launched.

John Betjeman, Estee Lauder and Otto Preminger were born.

World Wars hadn't been invented yet but local wars were very popular.

  • I just read this translated in Japanese. I think this is my favorite tale by Beatrix Potter.

And Sir, you've got an incredibly amazing voice!

Thank you for creating this (not to mention for posting this too)!

  • You are most welcome. Thanks for watching :)

  • Double entendres abound !

  • Yes, but I really don't know if they were intentional or not?

  • Delightful. Very nicely done. One of my favorite stories.

The Beatrix Potter Society has fascinating conferences and information and is simply a lovely way to enjoy and honor and learn more deeply about Beatrix Potter -- even to fully discover and appreciate the fungi in her illustrations. : )

  • Ah yes. Insects. Of course ;)

    Thanks for the comment :)

  • I wish I sounded like this when I read these stories to my kids.

  • I think there was a bit of tongue in cheek by Beatrix ! I think she might have known of the Reverend Awdrey ! Possibly, too much ladybird sauce ?

  • Made me feel like a child again Vox listening to this, you read it SO so wonderfully ! ... Thank you :)
