Savannah monitor lizard training to come to voice commands.
I have trained my Bosc monitor lizard to learn his name, with a bit of persuation he inches his way over, he then gets the reward for recognising the command.

This video is aimed at Bigboy3293 who is the pioneer of this method of lizard taming.

Thanks Bigboy3293 - make sure you watch his vids, they are something else.

Building trust with your Bosc must be started slower, you can't just jump into this, they have to be eased into it.

  • Yes since I saw bigboys video I've been trying to voice train my monitors....

  • @monitorman203 Keep at it, as long as they are responding they will begin to understand, make sure you reward with food... I forgot to do this the first few times he came, and the next few attempts were failures.. so the past week I have been rewarding every time... I even saw my other one coming to my calling in this vid and she is nervous as heck.

  • Damn bud, those two have grown very well! Check out my new b/w tegu, don't know if you've seen her yet. She's Sobek's future mate!

  • @TeguBuzz Thanks man, from 14" - almost 2 foot (23") in 2 months! so he has grown 9", the other one a more modest 3.5"

I'll definately check out your new vids.

  • That is so cool !! I hope this really catches on.If people in the reptile comunity sees this then they might start working more with their lizards and other reptiles. It could keep the younger generation more interested in their reptiles.THANKS for the vid.

  • @bigboy3293 Still not as good as your calling videos yet, I have to make a lot of racket to get his attention lol!

  • Awww. That is to cute :) . He was a very good boy.

  • beautiful specimens

  • @whiteyr44 They are still young, mine are older. You should see in about 2 months, and i also keep repeating their name. Doesnt sound that great on video but it keeps their attention. You know i can call mine just once LOL

  • @yahhtrick1000 My sub is 9" at the back, I will increase to over a foot when they get a foot bigger (they will get a new cage then too), they like to dig... a lot!

You can see all the digging at the back left, there is dunes in the mud.. it is very funny to watch.

You probably can't tell from the vid but there is a lot of soil/coir mixture in there, you don't need it but for enrichment purposes it is recommended.

  • @juggernautreptiles Thanks man, the big one is growing like a weed!
