During the Peru program's first week, ORBIS was honored to have Dr. Mark Mannis (Cornea) and Dr. Jamie Brandt (Glaucoma) - both from University of California, Davis - join our Flying Eye Hospital program. Each conducted separate clinics in their respective fields saving and preserving sight to the people of Peru. Additionally, they found one case they were able to address together. A patient suffering from a diseased cornea as well as losing his sight to glaucoma. Through the teamwork of both Dr. Mannis and Dr. Brandt, this patient was able to receive sight saving and sight preserving surgery allowing him to continue a life of providing for his family and being an active member of society - all objectives of ORBIS' core mission to save sight and transform lives.

A special thanks to DCI Ocular Services, Global Sight Network Birmingham, AL, Vision Share (Apex, NC), Indiana Lions Eye & Tissue Transplant Bank, Indianapolis, IN, Michigan Eye Bank Ann Arbor, MI, the North Carolina Eye Bank, Winston-Salem, NC and the East Tennessee Lions Eye Bank Knoxville, TN for providing the corneas used during this Flying Eye Hospital program.
