Hiking and geocaching on the Chimney Canyon Route in the Sandia Mountains. Found a lost cabin along the way and did a lot of bushwacking and treewacking too!!
Chimney Canyon get it's name because it looks like a huge Granite Chimney rising out of the mountain. The trail starts at the Del Agua Canyon marker on the North Crest Trail which is about .5 miles from the Crest parking lot. It hooks back up with thw La Luz Trail further down the Canyon. It's also the most difficult trail in the Sandias, but we hiked the easiest part of it at the top of the mountain that day.
It seems like a really pretty area. Where is the Chimney Canyon? Why is it called a Chimney route? Awesome view at 5:03 and 6:23
