My First Chinese Reader is a 4-volume curriculum that is designed for beginner level students and introduces them to the Chinese language and culture in everyday situations. These vividly illustrated series is presented in a fun cartoon, story-centered framework that is interesting and vibrant for elementary school learners. The textbooks are comprised of age appropriate scenarios and topics that are relevant to childrens daily lives such as: students going to school; students hanging out with their friends; children talking to their families, and talking about things that they might be interested in—animals, places in the community that they like to go. The goal is to make students feel at ease about learning Chinese as well as help them develop affinity for the language and culture. Each lesson also features sections on vocabulary, along with English translations for each word and sentence, exercises, character stoke order sequence, and reading challenges. Each volume also comes with a set of workbooks, worksheets and writing sheets, a comprehensive Teachers Guide with clear learning objectives and suggested activities, as well as online modules that include animated lessons, songs, and stories.
