Trophy Sticks are better for trolling than casting. If I was going from shore I'd try some 1/2oz Acme Kastmasters in Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout. You'll get a much better cast out of them than a stickbait. Although, if you are at a deep drop off, I'd go with the 6.5" Trophy Sticks which should cast a good distance, depending on your set-up.
Great video Steve! I caught an 8 pound mackinaw about 20 feet from the shoreline off Meeks bay in the rocky areas on the 5.5 inch Tasty Tui Trophy Stick 2 days before this video was filmed. You can cast the Trophy Stick towards the buoys and retrieve it and get good macks this time of year around the structure of the shorelines. Right now the macks are everywhere. Steve just goes deep, deep for the monsters. Great video!
