Bmw E39 530d - Top Speed

Top speed test on highway with a Bmw E39 530d 02/2001 - 193 Hp without any modifications.
The car is limited on 230 km/h.

wtf? mine has a limit at 240 and it does 290 without the limit!

and it's not tuned!!!.

The car has no limit at 230 km/h.. 230 km/h it's top speed :)

@MercedesFUN1 Look at fuel-consumption. =) RPM is to high and cause of that, the rpm is limited.

180km/h at 3500rpm. 200 at 4000 thats to much for a 530d..

You're right. Gear- and differential-Ratio is to short in the 530d manual, but 530d with automatic-transmission goes the same topspeed with lower rpm cause of the longer ratio.

@Fradias11 @Fradias11 check out fastlaps.com, find the E39 and read the post by beast. An M5 E39 without limiter will do 187mph which is 300.95kmh. This is a car with around 400BHP. A 193BHP diesel will not get anywhere near that. In fact, i have read that the E39 530D isnt limited at all. 240kmh is its top speed.

@Fradias11 Sounds good to me. If the 530D does 290kmh without the limiter, ill be finding a way to get rid LOL!!! But, the answer must come from a reliable source, not some idiot who's never owned one. I absolutely love my 530D, its the most complete car i have ever owned (and ive had a fair few being in the car trade all my life). I hope it lasts forever.

@aircooledwizard Let me tell you something I know that with the limiter it does 240km/h and I know it can do a little more... I have a friend with one like mine that took his limiter of and he did 290km/h but maybe he tuned it a little bit I just don't know... Let's do something: Both me and you are goin to search the web and see what it can do without the limiter, when me or you find out we put here on youtube as an answer to this coment, ok?

@Fradias11 290kmh from a 530D? What dream were you having at the time? I have a 2002 530D and as much as i love it, even i know it will never hit 290kmh. Limiter or not!!!
