I love reading all the comments of those who were there that night. It was such a surreal, spiritual experience. We were on the lawn wearing giant trash bags which are absolutely useless during a Madison County monsoon, but nobody cared about the rain, it just added to the already super charged atmosphere. Been going to Deer Creek for 17 years, never experienced anything like it. Also never thought I'd wade barefoot throught 2 feet of water, but shoes at that point were quite usless. :)
Have to share a story. There was a dad and his son in front of us for this show. The son was probably 13 and seemed like he didn't want to be there, like his dad dragged him out against his will. He was sulking for most of the show, didn't say hardly two words to his dad up till this point. But, after the power outage sing-along he turned to his dad with bright eyes and a big smile and said "that was cool!" I got a kick out of that.
I've been to well over 100 concerts in my day but the power outage was the greatest concert moment I've ever experienced. It was perfect because the power cut out right as the chorus was starting so the crowd knew all the words and didn't miss a beat singing them at the top of their lungs as the lightning flashed all around and the wind picked up. The band obviously loved it too as you could tell from their reaction. Thanks for the video!
I'm certainly glad this video is on here but nothing can do that moment justice. It still makes hairs stand up on the back of my neck. To have the huge display of lightening, the power outage, and the crowd continuing to sing the song was the greatest concert moment I have ever experienced, and I have been to a fairly high number of concerts. GREATEST CONCERT MOMENT EVER!
I was at this concert, and yes it was with out a doubt the greatest ever...The Heartbreakers are rock and roll...New live anthology comming soon...tour to follow?
I was not only at this concert but i was front row and after he announced that they were done his drummer threw his drumstick and i caught it....best night ever...if you dont' believe me fuck you, i won the tickets from a radio station.
I was at this show, I will never forget that moment!
