  • What an idiot. The Aramaic text says: "It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle." The word gam-la means both camel & rope in Aramaic. - Women, when purchasing thread, often say "it is a rope, I cannot use it," meaning the thread is too thick. Also, there are ropes in every home that the ppl use to tie up burdens on the backs of men & animals.

  • too cute.

  • ok, sorry big daddy. I thought u were mocking the Bible. Plus I get frustrated w/ religious error.

  • The word gam-la should be translated as a rope if the words "eye of needle" appear in the context. If Gam-la is referring to animals, then it means camel. Gam-la is correctly translated as camel @ Matt. 23:24 b/c Jesus is also talking about gnats, & contrasting it w/ a camel. Both objects were alive, so the hyperbole was justified.

  • Everyone in the Near East knows that a camel could never pass through a needle's eye but that a rope might at least be forced through a very large needle. A rope can easily be threaded through the eye of a large wooden needle used for making rugs & tents. But, some parts of the rope would fray & other parts would pass through the needle.
