Watch Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt1cHtUSKbo

The Southern New England Trunkline Trail is a rail trail in Massachusetts.
It occupies an abandoned railroad corridor running for approximately 22 miles (35 km) with an eastern terminus at Union Street in downtown Franklin, Massachusetts and a western terminus at the Connecticut state line in the Douglas State Forest, Douglas, Massachusetts.
The trail cannot be followed from end to end, as almost all bridges, including those over major rivers, are unsafe or missing.
The trail continues into Connecticut as the Airline State Park, which extends to East Hampton near the Connecticut River. It is a vital part of the southern New England rail trail system.
The trail was designated as a National Recreation Trail in 1994, having been acquired in 1984 by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management.
The surface of the trail is gravel ballast.
The trail is designated for use by pedestrians, equestrians or non-motorized vehicles.
The trail passes through the following towns in Massachusetts.

Douglas
Uxbridge
Millville
Blackstone
Bellingham
Franklin

  • We entered behind the Blackstone Town Hall where everything was over grown and blocked off. You would want to start at the Millville Lock where we exited the trail. To get across the abandon bridge there is a small path that to the left of the trail that goes down to the train tracks. You can cross that bridge and go back up to the trail on the other side. Just be careful, those tracks are active. Dont forget to watch Part 2! Its processing and should be up soon :)

  • Hi, Great video. I could never walk across those bridges. Where did you enter to start your walk? I have never walked in this area. I have walked the Trunk Line by Millville Lock. Was that one of the bridges in your video? Looks like you all had a fun day. Sure was great weather this weekend.
