I have tickets to see her in London later this year in a Mozart recital! I'm going to be right at the front- I'm going to be breathing in Sumi Jo's breath...Hopefully I'll be able sing like her afterwards!

@sandytheslayer. I too will be in the front row on 25 November 2011. I can't wait to be in the same room as Sumi Jo. She is the finest living human being.

Absolutely right @operafantic, she is passing every note with the requirement of composer not subordinating the aria to her habilities, she is someone who deserves the crown of extraordinary perfection

@gustopheles Exactly right my friend - I saw Sumi Jo in concert a marvel :)

@Whirlflux Thought it 'had to be Sumi'. Thanks for the correction. Sumi, awesome! Inva, awesome as well! I have to admit, and to coin what someone else described, both Sumi and Inva makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck and sends "people bumps" down my arms. (goose bumps) I don't know what makes me. But I can listen to the Diva scene (Fifth Element) over and over. Must be the oversized smurf with the tentacles. :)

@TheDarkSide61862 No, the score for the Fifth Element was sung by Inva Mula Tchako, but you are correct to say that the scene was not enhanced.

To me, Sumi Jo is an example of a good singer with dubious taste. She drags out the Mad Scene far too long in order to show off her technique. But her acting here is no worse than that of Natalie Dessay, who mugged and acted catatonic when I heard her sing Lucia in New York.

@operafantic Have you ever seen the score of the Mad scene of Lucia? She is just doing all the difficult things that the composer required. I can see here her serious and honest attitude towards music and composer. I know many other singers that change the scores (because they can't do or didn't make effort to do), just skips those hiralious scales, runs, etc. I cannot understand why this serious attitude towards music can be regarded as just showing off her technique for someone (like you.)
