Here is a picture I created in 3ds max real quick to be used as a background for Cube Desktop in Windows or Sky Dome in Linux, or other similar programs.

  • Do you use particleIllusion? Just curious. It's a pretty neat program for generating beautiful particles and I just got into it recently.

  • I don't have that one. It sounds familiar though. Is it for AE?

  • No, it's a standalone particle generator. It's very comparable to the particle emitters that come in Motion and I'm sure you could do some pretty beautiful comps with it. Plus I think it's like $300 which isn't bad. I could PM you a link to a pretty neat animated logo made with it and After Effects.

  • Ya send me the link, I always enjoy checking out other people's stuff!

  • All I can say is that is so amazing!

  • thanks!

  • Ya. Linux isn't quite there yet to be used full time. At least not for my needs anyway. Hopefully soon.

  • Good ol' linux, it's always got the best free sowftware, if only they had a free windows emulator that would run DX9+ gamesl, if there is one I haven't found it, the only one I found cost money monthley...

  • It is a fancy looking program to switch between multiple desktops to minimize clutter. OSX has Spaces, which does the same thing but doesn't look as cool. It is really more for looks than any practical usage in my opinion. I don't find that switching between many programs is any faster with the use of these type of programs.

There are trial versions of Cube Desktop as well as other programs for Windows that do the same thing. The programs that do it in Linux are free, naturally.

  • woh...woe? wooh...who cares

that's prety cool, so you can use this as a desktop eh? cube desktop is it? I'll look into that...does it cost money?
