The poll was obviously done in the US. In almost any other country it would be more like 10% basketball, 90% soccer.

Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they don't exist. It just means that you're ignorant. All around the world soccer stars are the most recognized athletes. Having said that even you must've heard of Pele, soccer's version of Jordan.

uhh soccer is fun playing and all but watching hours of running and kicking gets boring. 3 hours later 3-2 yay. Basketball u see nice dunks and nice shots and its much more exciting, and intense to watch.

This may be true when we take it back to the late 80's and 90's during the Jordan era(best year of sports!!!) but in our present year I don't think that Basketball can beat soccer in TV ratings.(especially now!, that the suns wear beaten at the playoffs)
