My 75 gallon aquarium stocked with paracyprichromis nigripinnis, cyprichromis leptsoma utinta, altolamprologus compressiceps goldhead, and xenotilapia flavipinnis nyaza lac. Tank is filtered with an EHEIM 2028, AC 110 and AC 70. Background is Aquaterra Canyon Rock, sand is silica sand and rocks are local slate. The tank has been running for three years, but was recently changed from a mbuna tank to a Tanganyikan community.

Paracyps and Altos are 3 years old, Xenos about 3-4 months and likewise for the cyps.

  • thats silica sand ,is it safe for your fish?, i just got some but it has a health warning on the label looks good tho

  • Bad for your health (if you inhale it when working with it!!) but fine for fish. Used it in all my tanks for years. Handle with care while rinsing and wear a mask, shouldn't be a problem..

  • Isn't this the promo video on the aquaterra website? Did you have to remove the top frame to get that background in there because of the middle brace?

  • @bc4527

Installing was relatively easy, I cut the background into three segments...much easier than removing the brace...and then siliconed them together inside the tank.

  • very nice tank!! I love tanganyika lake!

What kind of stones is this? they really look like your background... good choice! ;)

  • I'm no geologist, but to the best of my knowledge it's slate, taken from a local deposit.

  • Very nice background man!

  • thx, i used it in y 75 gallon tank and the fish look awsome and seem more active. i also am putting it in my 180 gal and 90 gal tanks

  • would have never guessed that this tank was only 75gals... these BG's make tanks look way bigger than they are...

  • Thanks. I hope i'll find the same!
