It's amazing how you can make such sweeping assertions within days of some preliminary findings from the LHC. You obviously don't realize how science works: early results have to be verified before they are accepted, and scientists must accept these results - they don't form dogmatic cults insisting that certain pet theories must be true despite evidence against them; that's reserved for religion.

(Super)string theory and the standard model are not one and the same thing. The standard model is the SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) gauge model describing the strong, weak and electromagnetic forces. That theory requires the Higgs boson to account for the masses of the particles. This is quite a different thing from trying to verify (or rule out) string theory, which could only be done (more likely by a successor of the LHC) by specific experiments that would point to the (non)existence of supersymmetry.
