What looks like an iPhone and feels like an iPhone, but isn't an iPhone at all? It's the latest knock-off product made in China. It's remarkably similar to the real thing—even down to the last, copyright-infringing detail. Let's take a look.

It may look and feel like Apple's new iPhone 4, but this near-perfect clone is the latest imitation product to come out of China.
Meet the SoPhone 4.

This video—posted by a Chinese user—compares the knock-off with the original.

With the same sleek exterior and interface as the real thing, the SoPhone is being touted as the best iPhone knock-off.
But upon closer inspection, the author of this video shows you how to tell the SoPhone apart from the iPhone.

"Is this the iPhone4? No, it is not iPhone. It is SoPhone. It's Chinese SoPhone! Why? Let me show you. Battery, Made in China."

The SoPhone 4's battery is easily removable, different from the iPhone 4.

The official website of SoPhone's maker—Shenzhen SUFF Industry—boldly admits the device is a counterfeit. They even claim it surpasses the real thing.

But upon using the SoPhone, users may realize what it lacks. It only has 2G connectivity, much slower than Apple's 3G. It can't access the App Store at all. The Safari web browser is fake. And you can only watch pre-installed YouTube videos.

But you get what you pay for—it's only one quarter the price.

Sporting the Apple logo, this iPhone clone has attracted a lot of attention in China, even appearing on the website of state-run Xinhua News Agency.

The iPhone 4 is only the latest victim in China's rampant counterfeit market. The high demand for cheap goods, and lack of legal oversight, has spurred this lucrative industry. Even McDonalds has quite literally met its match in China.

Counterfeit goods cost countries around the world hundreds of billions of dollars each year. They may also pose a danger to consumers—as many are made with inferior materials and poor workmanship.

  • @BiBaBongii and mind explaining how android isnt a smartphone.. it does everything the iphone does and can even duplicate the gui

  • you know the way to stop counterfeiting is easy; just make the real deal cheap! the reason they copy them is cos no one outside the western world can afford these things! and not just the iphone. they need to be sold at closer to there real price!

  • @OWNERS93

I'm sorry but according to your videos it seems as if you deserve less pay than the workers in the Foxconn plant that makes your real iPhones. Also your videos assert that you are prepubescent white trash.
