I CAN HELP YOU GUYS OUT. BEFORE YOU ADD A NEW TRANSPARENT LAYER YOU HAVE TO SELECT THE IMAGE WITH THE COLOR SELECT OR THE MAGIC WAND WHICH EVER WORKS BETTER FOR YOUR IMAGE. AFTER YOU DO THAT THEN ADD THE TRANSPARENT LAYER AND COLOR OVER IT WITH A PAINT BRUSH. IT SHOULD ONLY COLOR THE SELECTED AREA. I HOPE THIS HELPS AS THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING..KEEP SMILING

And then just Ctrl+click on the transparency layer in the "layer palette" (the box that shows all the layers you have

Very good tips. I didn't know the capabilities of the "Mode" property of layer :o)
Pour les francophones, les options « lumière douce », « Éclaircir seulement », dans le choix "Mode" du calque transparent sont la clé de l'idée.
