  • I'm not following your exact calculation that you need 42 buds. Isn't that a product of the thickness/health of the trunk, the vigor of the vine's growth from last year, etc? I have also heard fruiting spurs every 6 inches, then later every 12 inches. I grow some young Nortons in s small home vineyard.
