This is the introduction to the BBC documentary "Voyage to the Planets" (titled "Space Odyssey" in Britain). Coming from the same people producing the "Walking With..." series of educational specials, it's a very real-seeming documentary which treats the mission as though it were actually happening. The astronauts visit the majority of the planets of the Solar System using plausible near-term future space hardware. I highly recommend the DVD.

  • It just cries out "heroes" doesn't it?

  • I wouldnt bother going to the planets, they have deep gravity wells and no water. Lets go to the asteroids baby!

  • Hey, I'm 100% with you on that. I think the destinations with shallow gravity wells will be more important to us than those with steeper.

  • I have watched this show on BBC but is this real? Has this happend? or will it happend?

    Please reply my comment =D

  • Heh, they fooled yah, huh? ;)

No, it's not really a documentary, but a look at what space travel might be like within our lifetimes. They did put all the right touches on it to make it seem real, didn't they?

  • this is what a spacecraft should look like for traveling thru our solar system, nasa needs to consult the production designers on this film

  • This would be better future for mankind: an Era of Space Explorations .

The way more better future than wars for constantly expiring resourses there on Earth and because of need of living space for constantly growing population.

But politicians like pigs are not able to raise their heads from dirt to the sky and behold the stars.

  • Manned missions to Mars, Venus, and even the gas giants in our solar system are technically feasible today (and have been possible even 20 - 30 years ago). But, unfortunately, now we look cinematic simulation of future space exploration (as well as our ancestors 40 - 50 years ago).

  • I bet people in the 22nd century will say: last century we expored and colonized the planets, now it is time for the gratest human adventure, a manned voyage to the stars!

  • @ATiredDogsMouth Jupiter and his Moons have more Water than Earth, specially Europa alone already has more Water than Earth.

  • Thats some of the greatest epic adventure music I've ever heard.....
