When checking into the Sunday evening QRP net on Echolink I overheard Bob/AD7BP say he was going to be in the Colorado Springs area while on business. I thought maybe we could hook up for coffee or better yet a goat hike. So Bob came by and my friend Dan/K0UIF, Bob/AD7BP and the goats & I hiked up Mt Herman to make some thrilling DX contacts ("first ever" DX QSOs for Bob!!!) ...Fun and thrilling day for all us goats! Enjoy!

  • Howdy Steve!

It is indeed great to see a new video from you! I too am wondering what the battery pack is that Bob was using. I have yet to earn my 1000 miles/watt, but this video inspires me to keep trying!

  • @KF7IJZ ...Bob was using an external sealed lead acid battery. I think it was maybe 3AH as it didn't last as long as we'd hoped for maybe 2hrs?. Bob handed me the mic to give another DX station a call (GI4DZE) and once I clicked the mic button the FT817 shut down. I had another battery with me but weather was also saying it was to end the FUN!! (sigh)

  • I love this video, getting the combination of a stunning view and a great 5 watt DX contact in Eastern Europe... is there anything better? Thanks for putting this up, it gives me something to shoot for. 73 - W2DAB

  • One of these days I'll be listening for you guys and hopefully I'll be upgraded to General at the time, so I can make a contact with you. I've made a few contacts on 10 meters with my FT-817, one of which was around 750 miles, so I know I'll be able to do it with a bit of patience.

  • Super to see you all again in this video. Thanks es 73

  • Two thumbs up Steve. Looking forward to QRPTTF next weekend. Hope weather cooperates. Maybe I will work you again this year if you are out. 72, Perry N5PJ

  • Hi Steve,

I was just thinking about The Boys the other day and wondering how they were. Glad to see you're all well and still working the peaks.
