why would you put a for 9'' to "handle it" what was wrong with the stock axle, and whats done to the 318. Ive got a 66 2 dr ambassador someone just gave me for free its got a 327 in it but from what ive heard its a junk motor is there some benifit or better reason to run a mopar in it vs a chevy?? or is it just what you had

are u sure it not a 290? AMC didnt put 318s in there cars.all v8 are stamped next 2 the motor mounts,it should tell u what size of motor your running. unless they pulled out the motor.

@keegan184 No The 318 was not an easy swap as i had to change the sump and oil pickup ,I just wanted a chrysler engine!
My friend put a 350 chev smallblock in his and it was set up alot better

It was made with a 232 inline six cylinder engine and a borgwarner 35 auto trans. But I replaced it with an engine and Trans out of a '68 Chrysler V8 plus a ford 9" diff to handle it .

Hey Mate,
I was just wondering if you had extractors in it. I ask because i am building a 67' Rebel with a 318 and can't seem to find any exhaust headers / extractors that will fit in the engine bay... so if you are running extractors did you know what car they were designed for?
Cheers

Yeah that steering rod gets in the way!!
I ended up using the standard manifolds on to 2" pipe with a cross-over pipe between exhausts.
