Give it a chance. Basically this is made with players of varying ability, many are complete beginners.
A new compostion is broken down into notes that can be played with any instrument. Then over a number of days and with a metronome we went to lots of diffferent schools and locations, and got kids and people to play one or two notes. Then this was all editied together to make what you see here. It is all recorded live, the soundtrack made up of many different elements, some are played in SUnderland, some Newcastle, some at night inside, some outside during the day etc. I hope this makes sense. Obviously timing was a problem, but when is it not...THis is a way to try and introduce peopel to the playing expereience and in away is a deconstruction of the idea of the orchestra, as never did any of the playing froups meet, and the score only exists in the edit.

  • Great piece - really simple idea but very effective. Would like to try something similar down here in Worthing, where I'm trying to encourage more new music.

  • actually the editing was the worst part, and that was what made it so bad. the sounds were okay, but were put together poorly. even the notes that were slightly off could've been fixed in editing. they could've made it sound even more orchestral by duplicating the sounds or even adding some delay and reverb in the right measure. cant blame them for making it though, at least they tried. maybe they'll do it again and it'll sound better because they had practice. ya never know. peace :)

  • 2:18 and the next 2 or 3 seconds haha!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!

I Agree with the person below, it was quite bad tbh lol!

I appreciate that it musta taken you ages for the editing and it's good editing, just the rythm and random trumbone and xylophone that makes me laugh lol,

    haha about the tuning.. man!

  • and 00:29 and 00:36 and 00:45 and 00:52 and 03:28 and 03:45 and thats it

  • yeah newcastle fan at 00:17

  • I like the idea of de-constructing the orchestra because that also helps to de-mystify it (and music-making, generally) and your vid shows that anyone can do it.

I also love the way complete beginners can play "alongside" so-called professionals. That floats my boat! It's really empowering.

  • Well...interesting idea...I see some potential for something here but I'm not sure what. Nice effort, though. Keep trying - I think your future is ahead of you.
