@TimeSplittersChimp Astonishing X-Men omnibus is self-contained, This Thor omnibus or the Walter Simonson omnibus if you like old school stuff. There is a Spider-Man omnibus by Michelinie which is also older stuff. For newer stuff there really isn't omnibuses yet, just go for the magazines or maybe trade paperbacks

@TimeSplittersChimp Well for Thor there are currently three omnibuses available. Theres the Silver Age omnibus, collecting material starting with his very first appearance. Theres the Walt Simonson omnibus, which collects Simonson's entire five-year run in the 80s. And theres the JMS omnibus, which is in the video. All three are excellent starting points. Personally I'd go for the JMS because 1) its cheap, 2) its not TOO long and 3) its a relaunch and as such is very accessible.

Hey guys I need a bit of help. I have recently started collecting comics due to the new DC 52 making it feel easy for me to begin with number 1 rather than jump into a series in the 800's, I am also quite knowledgeable about Batman and have always loved him so that helps. I want to get into some Marvel though, Spiderman X-Men Thor ect which I have grown up with but not to the extent I have with Batman. I don't know much and want an Omnibus which will be easy for me to read and not feel lost, ???

@01DRose01 I'd go for the Omnibus. It can be had for 45 bucks, really cheap for an Omnibus, and by collecting the volumes you'd only save 10 bucks. Buying the volumes is handy if the omnibus is a thick 1000 page tome but this one isn't, its easy to handle and read and its all in one book. Not to mention, Omnibi sell out more than they're reprinted so buying the Omnibus means you've got something a little more special. And as a plus, its got those Fantastic Four issues that set up the story.

Hmm its OlivIer Coipel, he´s french so hes name is different, dunno how to explain it by writing it but its not Oliver, hmm like Olivie, the r is not pronounced and its sounds like Cuapel. Im not a troll, just wanted to point that out and i really like your reviews of hardcovers and omnibuses, i didnt even know there was a Thor omnibus, thanks for the news : )
