HELLCATs fighters were a total surprise in the Pacific theatre of WW2, they were superior to the japanese zero and they destroyed many japanese warplanes from 1943 to 1945

  • For me the only propaganda you need would go something like this:

    Hellcat vs. Zero

    Kill Ratio:

    19:1

    'nuff said

  • It's true. He was an amazing marksman.

  • Yep by 1944 most Japaneses planes were in poor shape or out of date. Plus most of the pilots were inexperienced and dived away or kamikazed.

  • So this did not take place at Rabaul as the title states. The audio says Truk lagoon at 5:00.

  • @deadlock2001 So why don't you lay out the "facts" which refute what is claimed in this video? Answer - BECAUSE YOU CAN'T! IF there was any evidence that these facts were inaccurate you would have refuted them by now. Bottom line is that you can not or will not accept the fact that the American planes, pilots and tactics were far superior to the Japanese.

  • @Crimble67 Look, I can only encourage someone to study the facts and put them into perspective. It's not my job to persuade you or to change your favored perception of reality. The more facts you know, the more accurate your perception will be, that's all I can say. I can understand though that this type of shows must be biased almost by definition to gain viewers but again, they only select facts that are "appropriate".

  • @Moution23 American kill ratios in all wars has ALWAYS dominated except verses the Germans who were the best fighter pilots in history. The number one ace in WW II was a German pilot named Erich Hartmann with 356 aerial victories.

  • @Crimble67 I was not talking exclusively of this episode, Japan did lost the war, but this tv program is crap, actually they talk only about the western pilots and their amazing skills killing communists Mig-17, this is so classic.

  • @deadlock2001 Nope, not going to just "trust" you. Yes the 19:1 kill ratio is accurate.

  • @Crimble67 Yes, but these facts alone wouldn't account for 19:1 kill ratio, trust me on that. Not even close to that number. Gotta sleep so thanks for discussion, I hope someone will read this and it will encourage him/her to study these fascinating topics and make their own opinion.

  • @deadlock2001 Wrong again, Midway was devastating for sure, but Japan had millions of young men at their disposal. The zero had zero (no pun intended) armor plating to protect the pilot nor was the gas tank self sealing, therefore one .50 cal round turned it into a flaming roman candle, whereas the U.S. plans were are built to survive multiple rounds and protect the pilot as well as self sealing fuel tanks.

  • @deadlock2001 Just to follow up, Japanese lost approximately 300 experienced pilots at Midway, a blow they had no hope recovering from. So... yes, of course the US were the superior force I don't mind the outcome of the war! What I do mind though is when the facts are presented in a distorted manner.
